Im considering installing a t-top on my outrage 18. I have read many pro's and cons to installing one. One pro for me is the additional storage as this boat has very little of it and adds a a bit more fish-ability in my opinion.

Not sure how comfortable I am though with aftermarket t-tops that wont break the bank or the deck for that matter.

I have a 1977 Montauk with a Fishmaster T Top and I love it. I bought the storage bag and it is great for holding life jackets, rain coat, a towel, sunscreen, throw cushion, etc. It really provides a lot of storage space. It also gives a great place for antennas and your all around light. I put four rocket launcher rod holders on mine and it is so nice to have rods up and out of the way.

As to it being aftermarket, I don't think Whaler offered a factory T Top so any one you get will be aftermarket. Mine is lag bolted to the floor and has two braces attached to the console, it is very sturdy.

Thanks for responding. So no back plate installed? Im concerned about towing at speeds 65-70 mph and deck integrity.

Since the hull is completely foam filled, there is really no way to install back plates or through bolt it.

If you go to this webpage you can drill down to your boat, find all the diagrams that are still available.
Should be one showing where the deck is reinforced. Some of the smaller boats have reinforcement plates in the deck for T-tops (phenolic blocks)

Thanks. I see the inner liner is reinforced with 1/2" phenolic material where I believe the braces would mount.
