Just purchased the boat and the anchor locker cover is missing. I found the part number through the Whaler catalog, but do not know know where to find it. Also, if not available, any suggestions. I was thinking a creating a template and then maybe having Tap Plastics make one.

Part # 22G42600

Thanks,
Dave

Just wondering how you made out with you anchor locker cover. I have a 2000 Ventura 21 and the anchor locker cover is cracker what I think is beyond repair. Do you ever find one?

I'm fairly confident that the original anchor locker cover was fabricated with Starboard Marine Lumber. That is an easy job with a few relatively inexpensive tools or it should be easy to find a shop to do it for you. Finding the OEM hinges and barrel bolts to attach them to the hull may be a little challenging but someone on the board will tell you what to use and where to get it.

You may need to use some epoxy to to fill the old screw holes in the hull and redrill them for new screws.

I would have thought the OEM hatch was gelcoated fiberglass with embedded wood.

The barrel bolts are also referred to (seriously) as sex bolts. While they offer various forms, the OEM were Phillips head on the outside and inside.

Grainger is one source.

To fill the existing holes you can use Marine Tex, a two part epoxy that comes in white.

Phil,

On reflection I sort of remember the 1999 Dauntless 16 we owned had a fiberglass anchor locker cover. Our 2008 190 Montauk uses Starboard. My apologies to the OP.

I searched high and low and could not find one. Twin Cities Marine talked to Whaler and they said they had already destroyed the molds.

I ended up having one made at Tap Plastic for under $60. Made a template out of cardboard and used the original hinges.
