I have a 1976 Holscaw trailer with a single axle, shock absorbers and 4 Coils springs. I am looking to redo the axle, but I am having a hard time finding a 2.5" O.D. square tube axle (which is what it came with) . Everything I have found has been 2" Square. Not sure if I could use a 2" square, being that I have to drill holes to hold the coils in place. I will need to have some items welded to the axle in order to duplicate the factory configuration. I was thinking of getting a higher rated axle (3500 lbs) instead of a (2000 lbs) factory axle in order to give the trailer a higher capacity load. I really like the trailer, so if anybody is familiar with this kind of trailer and can help me find an axle or create a new one, it would be very much appreciated. Right now, the spindle are bent on both sides and the tire are wearing more on the inside.
