Member Personal Page Posts: 41 Comments: 0 Joined: 10/17/14	Fellas, I am a newbie with my first Whaler (15' Sport with bow and side rails and pedestal seats front and behind the steering wheel). I need to replace my boat cover that I believe has more duct tape than original material. Question: I've looked at the covers offered by Mills, Carver, and Specialty, any recommendations from those who have purchased covers from any of the three?. Also have a BassPro ten minutes away and am looking at their generic covers. I will be using the cover for outside storage between outings and outside storage over the winter. I'd rather spend a buck early and have a good product than being penny wise and dollar stupid and have a cover that lasts 20 minutes. Your thoughts? Member Personal Page Posts: 122 Comments: 0 Joined: 08/27/07	I bought a generic one from bass pro, and threw it away after the first use. Then I bought a Mills, which is expensive but works. Problem with the generic one is that it doesn't fit tight enough to shed the water from rain, so you end up with a hundred gallons of water sitting in the boat cover, which has sunk into the well of you boat. You have to pump out the water to get the boat cover off.

I have not even used the 2 prop poles that came with it yet. I'll probably experiment with them when it is stored for the winter. It also came with a smaller cover for the motor.

Member Personal Page Posts: 130 Comments: 0 Joined: 09/14/09	I have a Taylor that has held up well. I added brass grommets for drains wherever water collected (1 in the bow and 2 in the stern) and this has helped the wear/stretching from water.

Member Posts: 23 Comments: 0 Joined: 08/26/13	I recently got a Taylor made semi custom to fit outrage 19 with T-top and rails . Material seems nice and thick and stitiching seems quality. It fits tight except it collects pools on cover in the bow and stern...I have to figure something out...or I will have to go to the storage lot everytime it rains and empty it out, maybe running a lline from bow rail over center console and to the stern before putting the cover on...going to try it. I have had the boat in indoor storage since I bought it...now I'm moving and it will be stowed outside at new location. In my driveway now while I prep her for the summer and it's raining a lot the last few days.

Member Personal Page Posts: 65 Comments: 0 Joined: 05/06/08	I was going throug the water pooling issue with my Katama 16'7. My solution was easy easy... I bought a piece of particle board and a 2x3 from lowes. I cut the particle board to the size of the bow locker. Then I took the 2x3 and cut itto two 2.5 foot pieces and screwed them vertically into the particle board, and then cut a piece of 2x3 and placed it over the top to bridge the two verticle standing pieces. The last thing I did was round off the corners with chunks of old trailer tire to prevent my cover from tearing, No more pooling water problems! Because it fits into the bow locker space it is very solid.

Member Posts: 23 Comments: 0 Joined: 08/26/13	I took a look at your Katama on your page I see exactly what you mean. On the outrage I will need more legs as the bow locker is a big triangle with a sloped bottom and hinged lid. If I build someting I will need for it to sit on the deck.
