Does anyone know what kind of paint to use on the windshield frame of a 2005 305 Conquest? Frame is aluminum, color is silver. I am doing corrosion repair around screw holes. Thanks.
I don't know about your windshield but on my T top at the weld joints, the weld metal was a different color than the anodized silver of the rest of it. I used a small can of metallic aluminum paint and a small brush and it matched perfectly.
I winter in Ft. Myers and summer in St. Joseph, Michigan. It’s now about 12 years since I’ve joined this group. I gave my 1972 whaler to my daughter and sold the 17’. Bought an O’Day 28 sailboat and sailed on Lake Michigan. Yesterday I bought a 2005 130 Sport.
Just get a Rustoleum color that matches. I believe from the factory they use a neutral sealant that weathers off eventually.
Wing, I just had my aluminum transom reinforcement pieces welded. If you are anodizing you need the matching rod (tig) or matching wire (mig) for the aluminum you are welding or the anodizing comes out a different color between the welds and the material. I went to the supplier and got "remnants" for my project. I believe it was all 6061 aluminum. I will find out after anodizing. I believe some pieces were aircraft grade.
