I have a 1999 17' Outrage III. Can't find specs or manuals for this boat or even a listing for it.
Any thoughts or info would be appreciated.

Thanks

That would be a 1996-1999 Outrage 17' II. There never was a III model.

Here is the original Outrage 17' I model.
Not known as a I model in the begininng as they probably didn't know there would be a II in the future.

The information label lists the model as 17 Outrage III.

Can you be more specific then that?

What "Information Label"?
Who put it there?
Does the label have Boston Whaler on it?

Did you not look at the link I gave you above?
That is the information you seek no matter what the information label you have says.

I owned one of these models.
http://users.sisqtel.net/jkriz/Outrag...age17.html

If what you have doesn't look like the above, then it isn't a 1996-1999 Outrage 17'
If you are looking for a 17' Outrage III, you will never find it as I already mentioned above.

Do you have any photos of your boat?
And maybe a photo of the label you state it has?

Joe is correct, the 17OR only had 2 versions, the 19 had 3...

That is odd.
Maybe a misprint of "Capacity Plates".
http://www.whalercentral.com/download...p?cat_id=4

I have only seen the Outrage II in print once in one catalog.
I cannot however find that print again to even prove there was an Outrage II.
My capacity plate on my Outrage 17' II on read "17 Outrage" if I remember correctly.

As draftsman mentions, there was never a Outrage 17' III model even though your Capacity Plate says that.

1990-1995 Outrage 17' I (Classic hull)
1996-1999 Outrage 17' II (Accutrack hull)
There were no other Outrage 17's made.

Anyone have a photo of their capacity plate for the 1996-1999 Outrage 17' II ?
Please submit it to me so we can add that info.

Also note: In case you don't know who draftsman is, he worked for Whaler for years.

From the 1999 catalog:
17' Outrage
LOA = 17' 6"
Beam = 7'
Draft = 12"
Weight = 1700 lbs
Max hp = 150hp
Fuel Cap = 56 gal

Same info can be found in our "Whaler Models and Specifications" link. We take all our info directly from the genuine Boston Whaler catalogs.

After reading this thread yesterday I went and checked my capacity plate.

http://www.whalercentral.com/download...p?cat_id=4

This link shows 17' boats with a capacity of 7 people whereas mine only says 6.

http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac...yplate.jpg

I guess one of the only two downfalls I see with the Outrage I vs. the II; that and the almost twice the size fuel tank on the II.

The capacity plate in the photo does NOT look original.

On every plate I have seen, the background is bare aluminum
eg: http://s908.photobucket.com/user/Nort...e.jpg.html

John's photo shows a white background.

I also see the NMMA logo is not the same.

I think this is a reproduced plate.

I was WRONG. Wow.

I asked my long time whaler buddy, Dave S in NJ who owns a 1999 Outrage 17 (II or III?) to send me a photo of his capacity plate.

It is identical to the one John posted for his 1999. I will forward to Joe.

???? Must have happened after I left... What makes it a III? The newer 19III style console made it a II... Guess I'll call the factory and find out what gives... Great, yet another capacity plate...

I have never seen a Euro transom on a 1999 Outrage 17' either.
The catalogs do not show it as far as I can see.

Anyone have a photo?

Here is a members 1999 Outrage 17'
It does NOT have a Euro transom.
http://www.whalercentral.com/infusion...r_id=26112

He is the last one on this list.
http://www.whalercentral.com/viewpage...age_id=178
Dave's boat was built in November of 1998 as a 1999 model.
Anyone have one built in 1999?

This is one of the reasons why it is important to list your numbers.
johnbg doesn't give us much to go on with what he has.

Ah well, was worth a shot... Talked to the factory and Chuck's stumped too, there is no record of a "III" and no one left to ask who were there at the time... Got one other person to ask, will try today.

I have the 1999 brochure. There is no euro transom on the Outrage in the brochure.

Old thread, but I am wondering if this mystery was ever solved?
