Duff, all i can say is ..quite the rig..you really take care of it..like most of the whaler cult...that you can still be under power while the other engine awaits work is a great thing..just having my boat out of the water for 30 day warranty work was such a pita...especially in the norths short season..the kicker ..2 engines..no downtime..

Thanks Bob, but i'm guessing you looked at my personnal page, which is showing my 22 i had just purchased and was just dropping her in the water for the first time to put on the lift and roll up the sleeves. Its how i got introduced to "bartenders friend" by Joe to clean up all the teak oil on the decks by the prior owner. Have a 25 now with Whaler Drive and twin 200's, so i need to update my personnal page to show the latest, and probably lastest! Smile

Fogged the engines and tucked her way back in the back yard, I can still see her from the kitchen window, and hope for spring.... Damn, forgot to pull the battery.

Maintenance activites this past weekend:

1. Took the Outrage 18 over to McClain Trailers to have new axle hub assemblies installed. Going to have the spare tire with an extra hub mounted on the trailer as well. Noticed that one bunk is about 1-1/2" higher than the other. Going to have that leveled.

2. Pulled the Nauset 16 out of the garage and made an appointment next weekend with Holmes Wooden Boats to do a little maintenance on her mahogany.

Here on the Gulf Coast we don't really have an off season; shrink wrap is for the fish I catch and freeze! ; )

popped the cover off the merc today to do a little bodywork..gouges in the fiberglass on one side and chips surround..(the past owner was a little rough on this thing),,i'm not a bodyshop, but if i can get some new hardener for my filler, it might just work out..this should keep me busy for a few..what did u do to your WHALER TODAY ??

I know I'm not the only whalerholic..keep this thread goin by posting something...even if youre only thinkin of doing something to the BOAT ! I had to make measurements in planning for boat guides for the trailer..cant believe I never put them on my first boats trailer ..especially after having such a hard time getting on. .well.. I can tell theyre gonna make life alot easier with the Dauntless..

I like the idea of the LED lights in the pvc pipe guides. Might try and make that happen to the boat trailer. Also need to find a foot control for the trolling motor.

I travel between Florida and Michigan and when in Florida I use a boat ramp at Punta Rassa at the foot of the causeway to Sanibel Island. Because I usually fish alone during the week when there is not much of a crowd at the ramp, I always wait till I can get the exreme left hand lane so when I back down I can release the winch hook and let the boat go back till it sits in the water between the guide posts. Then I take the line and step up onto the dock and walk the boat back away from the ramp. When coming back in I try to get the same spot so that when I get the boat on the trailer I can jump off onto the dock then walk around and hook up the winch, hoping the boat doesn't slide back into the water. I'm trying to figure a way to put a walkway on the side of the trailer so I can get off over the side instead of having to jump over to the dock. That way I can keep a hand on the boat to keep it from sliding back on the trailer. I'm 70 this year and it's getting harder to do that jump. So anyway, that's what i'm doing. Thinking.

Bill, I love leds..state of the art..no bulbs..go 4 it
Wing..congrats on boating at 70..I am planning on it too...i might not be able to do the acrobat stuff then..like stepping over the bow and standing on winch setup to get down on front of trailer ..instead of going in the water. !! might have to play it safe and put on the water shoes..good luk

I had Sailfish Marina in Port Salerno, Florida drop my 17' Guardian in the water today, and I went for a dive along the Jetty In the St' Lucie Inlet. Dried off and then trolled an hour or sol. Went into Shrimpers and had a cold beer. I've had so many Whalers that its hard to count them, and my days of worrying about which model I have, original parts, or how pretty the boat iooks are long gone. I just want to spend time on the water.
