Hi Folks, I am looking at an outrage that has been painted.
My question is, What is the best (if any) way to get it off. Is it worth the trouble and expense?
I want one to restore and use along the La coast.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,Martin

There was probably a reason it was painted. There is no way to know what kind of body work may have been needed to restore the boat. If you do not want a painted boat do not buy it.

Been there done that. Usually hides some ugly things. Fine if you want to redo it into a semi-custom boat. Not good for an original restoration.

There are two Project Albums on this site involving total restoration of a 19 Outrage, both with new gelcoat I believe. You should check them out to see what you would be getting into (a MAJOR project!).

The easiest solution would be to have the boat re-painted with Awlgrip.

I have an all original condition 1975 Outrage 19. You can use these photos for reference, and to see what one of these boats looked like when new. Only upgrades added by me are varnished teak and console raised 4".
